I have lived in Victoria for the better part of 30 years having moved here from Creston, BC.
As long as I can remember I have always had an interest in the field of health and wellness. Originally I moved to Victoria to study Chinese medicine but realized that the timing wasn’t right for me. I then took a job at BC Ferries and before I knew it, 16 years had passed. I learned a lot about tourism and customer service but knew that I needed to return to the field of health and wellness.
The southwest of the states had always interested me so I moved to Santa Fe, NM and studied massage and other related therapies. Upon returning to Victoria I worked at various hotels doing massage and learning more about the hotel business.
Wanting to expand my training and skills, I signed up for the esthetics course at the Aveda Institute here in Victoria. I was fortunate enough to be asked to teach at the Institute and did so for two years. It was an honour to be able to share my knowledge with my students and I received so much back from them.
Another dream of mine had always been to live in the southern hemisphere and an opportunity arose and I was hired as the spa manager at the Marriott Resort on the island of St Kitts in the Caribbean. Living and working in another culture definitely has its challenges but I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on that opportunity and experience.
After about two years, my love for Victoria called me back home. I worked at a multi-disciplinary health centre and medical laser business before the opportunity at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel came up.
Having worked in the tourism, health and beauty industry for 20 years, I can honestly say that I believe it was all leading up to this opportunity of managing the Boathouse Spa & Baths at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel.
I have such passion for this industry and for providing great customer service. My hope is that not only will you receive a wonderful service but that we will be able to create a memory for you that will last a life-time.
