Whale watching is the second most popular reason visitors plan Victoria, BC vacations due to the three resident pods of Killer Whales that live and feed in the local waters. Our whale watching excursions will be available right off the hotel’s private dock.
OAK BAY VILLAGE
Known as one of the most “British” sections of the Victoria area, Oak Bay Village is a residential and commercial neighbourhood in East Victoria with a population of roughly 18,000. The area is renowned for its tearooms, but visitors can also enjoy pubs, restaurants, boutique shops and art galleries here.
THE BUTCHART GARDENS
The Butchart Gardens, located just a half hour away from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, offer visitors a more expansive garden experience then they would find at the Abkhazi Garden. The Butchart Gardens, which contain more than 1 million plants, also host two restaurants and a coffee shop. The property houses themed spaces such as the Rose Garden, the Sunken Garden and the Japanese Garden.
Victoria is a renowned winery destination highly accessible from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel by car. Many of the region’s wineries are located on the Saanich Peninsula in villages such as Saanichton, about 20 miles north of the hotel and downtown Victoria. For those willing to travel a few miles outside of Victoria, the Cobble Hill district also features more wineries. Or, if you would simply like to relax by the hot pools – our in house sommelier would be happy to organize a wine tasting for you.
VICTORIA'S INNER HARBOUR
Victoria's Inner Harbour, four miles west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, is the city’s walkable downtown center. Visitors can enjoy numerous activities, nightlife, restaurants and entertainment here including destinations such as Fisherman's Wharf, Lower Johnson St. shopping district and Market Square. Kayaking trips and aquatic attractions within the city’s harbour are available to those who enjoy water activities.
PRIVATE GOLF COURSE ACCESS
As a privileged guest of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, you can access VIP green fees at local, private golf courses. It will be our pleasure to arrange for transportation for both you and your clubs.
Located just two miles west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, Abkhazi Garden is a public garden that is open seven days per week between March 1 and October 31. In addition to viewing the garden’s acre of old trees and new plantings, guests may enjoy lunch or afternoon tea at the garden’s delicious restaurant, which presents traditional cooking via local ingredients.
SIDNEY - “BOOKTOWN”
This small town is located about 20 miles north of Victoria and the Oak Bay Beach Hotel and is known for its bookshops. Officially dubbed “Booktown” for the fact that it houses nine bookstores within walking distance of one another, Sidney has approximately one book shop per 1,000 residents. Each of Sidney’s stores features a different style of literature, granting guests thousands of titles to choose from in the small town.

Enjoy beachcombing or relaxing in the sun at Willows Beach (3 mins drive away) or Cadboro Beach (7 mins drive away).
BEACON HILL PARK
Beacon Hill Park is a vast oceanside green space nestled south of downtown Victoria and four miles west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. Stroll acres of pathways, gardens, practice your putting on their practice green or feed the ducks. Families will also adore Beacon Hill Children’s Farm, bringing an unforgettable rural experience into the city of Victoria open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day, weather permitting..
