From whale watching expeditions to garden tours and wine tasting, activities in Victoria are varied and unforgettable and the Oak Bay Beach Hotel will be the ideal home base for exploring them all. Situated on the beautiful Pacific waterfront, our hotel will not only be a source of numerous Victoria BC things to do onsite, but will also grant guests access to a spectacular array of activities for the most memorable Vancouver Island vacation.
Whale Watching
Inner Harbour, Victoria, BC
Whale watching is the second most popular reason visitors return to Victoria. There are 3 resident pods of Killer Whales that live and feed in the local waters. Our whale watching excursions will be available right off the hotel’s private dock.
Abkhazi Garden
Located just two miles west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, Abkhazi Garden is a public garden that was once private. The Abkhazi Garden is open seven days per week between March 1 and October 31. In addition to viewing the garden’s acre of old trees and new plantings, guests may enjoy lunch or afternoon tea at the garden’s delicious restaurant, which presents traditional cooking via local ingredients.
Beacon Hill Children's Farm (Beacon Hill Park)
Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, BC
Families will adore Beacon Hill Children’s Farm, bringing an unforgettable rural experience into the city of Victoria. The children’s farm is located in Beacon Hill Park, a vast oceanside green space nestled south of downtown Victoria and four miles west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. The farm is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day, weather permitting.
The Butchart Gardens
800 Benvenuto Ave, Victoria, BC
The Butchart Gardens, located just a half hour away from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, offer visitors a more expansive garden experience then they would find at the Abkhazi Garden. The Butchart Gardens, which contain more than 1 million plants, also host two restaurants and a coffee shop. The property houses themed spaces such as the Rose Garden, the Sunken Garden and the Japanese Garden.
Wine Tasting
Saanich Peninsula
Victoria is a fruitful destination for wineries and most are highly accessible from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel by car. Many of the region’s wineries are located on the Saanich Peninsula in villages such as Saanichton, about 20 miles north of the hotel and downtown Victoria. For those willing to travel a few miles outside of Victoria, the Cobble Hill district also features more wineries. Or, if you would simply like to relax by the hot pools – our in house sommelier would be happy to organize a wine tasting for you.
Local Area Beaches
Enjoy beachcombing or relaxing in the sun at Willows Beach (3 mins drive away) or Cadboro Beach (7 mins drive away).
