Victoria's Inner Harbour

Victoria's Inner Harbour, four miles west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, is the city’s very walkable downtown center. Visitors can enjoy numerous activities, nightlife, restaurants and Victoria BC entertainment here. Kayaking trips and aquatic attractions within the city’s harbour are available to those who enjoy water activities.

Royal British Columbia Museum

The Royal BC Museum is home to several permanent galleries, such as the First Peoples Gallery and The Big Map, along with a new March-through-October gallery focused on Emily Carr, who is considered one of Canada’s greatest artists. The downtown Victoria museum is just four miles west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel in the RBCM Cultural Precinct, a neighbourhood that houses British Columbia’s legislative buildings and several historic buildings.

Maritime Museum of British Columbia

28 Bastion Square, Victoria, BC

The Maritime Museum of British Columbia is located in a 19th century building in Victoria’s historic Bastion Square and features displays on pirates, heritage vessels and shipwrecks as well as three sailboats and 35,000 artifacts. The museum is housed in the oldest surviving courthouse in the province and features the oldest continuously operating open-cage elevator in British Columbia.

Victoria Salmon Kings Hockey

1925 Blanshard St, Victoria, BC

Sports fans can cheer on the Victoria Salmon Kings, a professional hockey team that plays in the ECHL. The team plays its home games at the Save on Foods Memorial Centre, which is located near downtown Victoria, less than five miles from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. The ECHL is a minor league hockey association, but the Salmon Kings are affiliated with the Vancouver Canucks of the major-league NHL.

Pacific Opera Victoria

805 Broughton St, Victoria, BC

The Pacific Opera Victoria hosts its performances in the Royal Theatre in downtown Victoria, just four miles from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. The company has four operas planned for the 2011-2012 season, Maria Stuarda, Carmen, The Flying Dutchman and Mary’s Wedding.
