What's in the Area

Shopping and Dining Victoria

The area surrounding the Oak Bay Beach Hotel offers excellent opportunities for shopping in Victoria BC as well as incredible restaurants in addition to our own onsite dining in Victoria. Explore our favourite picks below and plan your vacation to the Oak Bay Beach Hotel today!

Oak Bay Village

Known as one of the most “British” sections of the Victoria area, Oak Bay Village is a residential and commercial neighbourhood in East Victoria with a population of roughly 18,000. The area is renowned for its tearooms, but visitors can also enjoy pubs, restaurants, boutique shops and art galleries here. Oak Bay’s commercial strip lies about one mile from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel.

Sidney - “Booktown”

This small town is located about 20 miles north of Victoria and the Oak Bay Beach Hotel and is known for its bookshops. Officially dubbed “Booktown” for the fact that it houses nine bookstores within walking distance of one another, Sidney has approximately one book shop per 1,000 residents. Each of Sidney’s stores features a different style of literature, granting guests thousands of titles to choose from in the small town.

Bastion Square Public Market

Located in downtown Victoria’s Inner Harbour, the Bastion Square Public Market is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday between April 15 and October 1. The area, full of buildings dating back to the 19th century, hosts artisans who gather each weekend to sell their goods. The square is also home to the Maritime Museum of British Columbia and several bars and restaurants.

Downtown Victoria

Downtown Victoria is overflowing with spectacular dining options of various cuisines. From traditional fare to international menus, the area offers a wealth of restaurants for every palate, ranging from romantic French restaurants to exotic Indian. There are also vegetarian and vegan options.
