The revitalization and restoration of the waterfront pools for the new Oak Bay Beach Hotel was an important part of our reflections of the history of the original hotel. In the early 1940's and 50's the hotel's outdoor saltwater pool was also a significant feature that was enjoyed by many guests. Included among its guests was a baby Killer Whale named Miracle, who survived a gun shot wound and recuperated in the Hotel's salt water pool for three months in the summer of 1977.
