Oak Bay Beach Hotel’s Gradual Reopening Update

Like many other businesses around the world during the month of March, the Oak Bay Beach Hotel was faced with suspending services and made the difficult decision to pause on accepting guest room reservations, to help do our part in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. This included the temporary closure of our Boathouse Spa and our two restaurants; The Snug and The Dining Room.

Now, as the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, we are pleased to share with you our gradual reopening plans.

Effective June 1st, we will begin by welcoming locals and essential stays as we gradually reopen all of our hotel amenities including reservations for overnight accommodation and treatments at our Boathouse Spa. We request that all of our guests continue to follow their Provincial or Federal travel recommendations.

We are also pleased to confirm that The Snug has reopened for limited dine-in service and we have a stunning new restaurant, FARO Handcrafted Pizza and Tasting Room, available for takeout and delivery service.

While we understand that things may look a little different here at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, please know that we have considered every detail to ensure that we can provide you with a safe and comfortable stay.

Some of the changes that have already been implemented include extensive new cleanliness measures, COVID-19 specific training upon staff returning to work, reduced seating in all of our restaurants, allowing for the required distancing measures, the installation of plexiglass protective barriers in specific areas, managing the flow of access to the hotel to ensure we can maintain physical distancing protocols and the purchasing of PPE such as reusable cloth masks for those who require them. We also ask that guests adhere to one person or one party in the elevator at a time. Our priority is to ensure that we can exceed all safety requirements to protect our staff and guests upon return.  Full details of these plans can be viewed here.

While we are excited to see a return to business, we also know that this can come with some uncertainty and anxiety for some. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we adapt to these changes and look forward to welcoming you back when the time is right.
