The Best of Victoria
While planning your travel to Vancouver Island, you will find Oak Bay to be a seaside destination unlike any other. Allow us to assist you in planning your activities and creating your very own personalized itinerary of local experiences.
Oak Bay Village
Known as one of the most ‘British’ areas in Victoria, Oak Bay is a charming seaside village renowned for its old world British charm, Victorian architecture, boutique shops, unique galleries and artisan creations. Located by the beautiful Haro Strait and home to some of the most expensive real estate and residences in Victoria, it is the perfect place for a leisurely seaside stroll. Boaters will also appreciate the Royal Victoria Yacht Club and Oak Bay Marina.
Victoria’s Inner Harbour
Victoria’s scenic Inner Harbour, four miles or six kilometers west of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, is the city’s walkable downtown centre. Visitors will find numerous restaurants and attractions including The Royal BC Museum, Fisherman’s Wharf, the Lower Johnson St. shopping district and the historic Bastion Square. The Butchart Gardens, located just a half hour away from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, offer visitors an expansive, year-round garden experience. Almost a million people visit annually to take in the colours of the seasons, Saturday fireworks in the summer and the Magic of Christmas event. Open daily, the property houses themed spaces such as the Rose Garden, Sunken Garden and Japanese Garden, along with two restaurants and a coffee shop.
With three pods of Southern Resident Killer Whales along with many Humpback Whales, guided whale watching tours are a popular adventure option. Excursions and transportation can be arranged through our Concierge at your convenience with options for the whole family available.
Oak Bay Beaches
Enjoy beachcombing or relaxing in the sun at any one of the many beaches and bays within a short drive from the hotel. Willows Beach (located 3min away by car) is one of Victoria’s most popular swimming beaches with shallow, protected water suitable for young children or anyone wanting to catch some rays.
Located on a magnificent stretch of coastline, the Oak Bay Beach Hotel is ideally situated along one of the most scenic bike routes on Vancouver Island. Whether planning for a leisurely ride to local sites and attractions or a more aggressive pace and route, your options are endless.
Cast off on a fishing excursion from the nearby Oak Bay Marina or Downtown Victoria and experience the thrill of fishing. The waters off the coast of Oak Bay are home to some of the best salmon and halibut fishing (and crabbing) on southern Vancouver Island. Arranged for you at your convenience, fishing charters range from 5 to 8 hours for four people and include state-of-the-art boats, gear and rods.
Our more active guests will enjoy the opportunity to explore the neighbouring islands with a coastal kayak tour to Discovery Island, hiking or a kayaking excursion. Please inquire with our Concierge for full details.
