Tea Selections

A smooth black tea scented with bergamot and softened with a creamy vanilla note. Familiar, elegant, and ideal for a classic afternoon tea service.

A highly aromatic Taiwanese-style oolong with honeyed, fruity, and lightly floral notes. A refined tea with natural sweetness and excellent complexity.

A classic Chinese oolong with a smooth body, gentle floral aroma, and clean finish. This tea can also be steeped more than once.

A bright, elegant black tea from India with muscatel notes and a lighter body than most traditional black teas. Often called the “Champagne of teas.”

A naturally caffeine-free South African infusion with soft honeyed notes and a mellow, rounded finish.

A traditional Chinese white tea made from young leaves and buds. Light, soft, floral, and gently sweet.

A brisk, classic black tea from Sri Lanka with a clean finish and enough structure to pair beautifully with rich afternoon tea fare.

About Our Tea Program

The Oak Bay Beach Hotel Afternoon Tea program features a carefully selected collection of premium loose leaf teas from The Denman Island Tea Company, a Vancouver Island-based specialty tea company founded by Certified Tea Sommelier Brendan Waye.

Based in the Comox Valley, The Denman Island Tea Company has been sourcing, blending, and supplying high-quality teas since 2011, with a focus on organic ingredients, traditional tea knowledge, and thoughtful pairings. Many of the blends are crafted on Vancouver Island, while the teas themselves are sourced from respected tea-growing regions around the world.

The company is also developing a long-term Camellia sinensis tea-growing project on Denman Island, where tea bushes have been planted as part of an ongoing exploration into tea cultivation in coastal British Columbia. While Denman-grown tea is not yet in commercial production, the project reflects the company’s deep commitment to tea, agriculture, and regional innovation.
